Life360 is seeking a Senior Data Engineer II to design, build, and maintain scalable distributed data pipelines supporting the company's next-generation data platform. The role focuses on processing tens of billions of location points, user actions, and miles driven monthly across a global user base of 97.8 million monthly active users. Key responsibilities include designing and building scalable data pipelines from ingestion through ELT to storage, supporting both streaming and batch processing for real-time analytics, ML, and experimentation. You will architect logical and physical data models, automate and harden data workflows for reliability at scale, build and maintain ML model features, and collaborate with product, analytics, and data science teams to translate data into business value. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience with high-volume data infrastructure and deep expertise with modern cloud data warehouse or lakehouse platforms (Databricks preferred; Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar). Required technical skills include proficiency in Python and SQL with ability to optimize complex queries, hands-on dbt experience, large-scale data processing with Spark and/or Presto/Trino, and strong data modeling fundamentals including partitioning strategies and analytical workload optimization. This is an AI-native role where you'll leverage LLMs for code generation and analysis while maintaining high quality standards and ownership of AI-generated output. Experience with modern data engineering tooling including orchestration (Airflow, Databricks Workflows), CI/CD (GitHub Actions), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, DABs) is expected. A BS in Computer Science, related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience is required. Life360 is a remote-first company with 500+ employees distributed across the US and Canada. The role offers competitive compensation, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
