Flagler Health is building a clinical operating system for modern musculoskeletal care, partnering with MSK provider groups and specialty clinics to improve operations and patient outcomes. The company recently closed a Series B funding round and is scaling its platform that bridges care delivery and clinic operations.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will own the end-to-end data pipelines that ingest clinical and claims data from dozens of different EHR systems into Databricks. This is a hands-on role on a small team where you write and operate production code. You will be responsible for making messy, inconsistent data inputs dependable and reliable.
Key responsibilities include: building and running ingestion pipelines from EHR systems (landing, validation, normalization, silver and gold tables); onboarding new clinics by understanding export formats and writing orchestration; maintaining change-data-capture from MongoDB into the analytics layer; building de-identified data exports for research partners with strict controls; owning data quality through freshness checks, reconciliation, and alerting; investigating data incidents to root cause and safely backfilling; and writing orchestration code in TypeScript alongside the backend team.
You will need five or more years building and operating production data pipelines, strong SQL and Python skills used regularly in production, hands-on Spark/Delta Lake experience, working knowledge of idempotency, deduplication, event ordering, and schema evolution, CDC or event-stream processing experience, willingness to write TypeScript, and deep understanding of how sensitive data leaks (through filenames, object keys, logs). Preferred qualifications include Databricks/Unity Catalog familiarity, Temporal or durable-execution engines, MongoDB experience, healthcare data knowledge (claims, CPT/ICD-10, HIPAA de-identification), TypeScript/Node.js, and infrastructure-as-code/CI-CD experience.
The role is hybrid with regular on-site presence required at the Vancouver office. The team is distributed with hybrid offices in NYC and Vancouver. Weekly team syncs and pair-coding sessions require camera on.
