Wagmo is a VC-backed pet health company that provides tech-enabled pet benefits through employers, covering everything from routine care to emergency services. We're hiring a Senior Data Engineer to design and scale the data infrastructure powering our growth.
In this role, you'll own the end-to-end data pipeline and warehouse architecture on BigQuery, building robust ETL/ELT systems that support Analytics, Finance, Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams. You'll design and implement dbt transformations with strong standards for testing, CI/CD, and documentation. Data quality and reliability are paramount—you'll establish validation frameworks, monitoring, anomaly detection, and clear data contracts across all systems.
You'll partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate ambiguous business problems into durable technical solutions, mentor junior data engineers, and raise the bar for engineering practices across the team. This is a leadership role for a hands-on engineer who can communicate complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and drive projects from scoping through delivery.
Our tech stack includes BigQuery, dbt, Fivetran, Python, GCP, GitHub, Tableau, and Claude. You'll work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where ownership, autonomy, and impact are valued over hierarchy.
Required: 5+ years in data engineering at high-growth SaaS or consumer tech, production-grade pipeline and warehouse experience, expert-level Python and SQL, deep dbt on BigQuery, strong Git/CI/CD practices, GCP familiarity, and orchestration tools like Airflow or Fivetran. You should understand data warehousing fundamentals (dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT design, query optimization, data quality frameworks) and have experience building data models for AI applications. Strong communication and project leadership skills are essential.
