Veeva Systems is a public benefit corporation and industry cloud pioneer serving life sciences companies. The NitroAI team is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and maintain data engineering infrastructure powering analytics delivery at scale. You'll work with data scientists and analytics teams to productionize solutions, build governed data pipelines, and deliver data to customers across a growing multi-tenant platform.
Key responsibilities include owning the Airflow codebase end-to-end (currently ~100 DAGs), building reusable templates, scaling patterns, and enforcing standards. You'll serve as the go-to resource for delivery teams on pipeline architecture and troubleshooting. You'll own data onboarding for new sources, including connection setup, schema discovery, and initial pipeline design. You'll operate and extend large-scale Spark pipelines on AWS Glue, handling multi-TB joins and compaction jobs, and support migration to Databricks as the platform evolves.
You'll drive data model improvements around commercial pharma data (patient claims, KOL/HCP data, CRM activity) with focus on structure, lineage, and platform flow. You'll contribute to and maintain internal Python packages used across the data team.
Required qualifications: 5+ years building data models and pipelines, 2+ years production Airflow experience, 2+ years Spark at scale with multi-TB datasets (AWS Glue preferred), strong Python and SQL, AWS fluency (S3, ECS/Fargate, Glue, IAM, Secrets Manager), and clear communication skills for teaching and onboarding.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with privacy-sensitive or governed data, Databricks, Claude Code, data science workflows, ML pipeline tooling, life sciences/healthcare background, and data catalog tools like Open Metadata.
Veeva offers flexible PTO, medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement programs, and a 1% charitable giving program. This is a high-impact role in a startup-like environment within an established, mission-driven organization.
