Cortex is an Engineering Operations Platform that provides visibility, governance, and automation for AI-driven software development. Key responsibilities include: - End-to-end ownership of data pipelines: ingestion, transformation (dbt), warehousing (BigQuery), and delivery to reporting and BI tools (Omni) - Audit and consolidate existing data systems, establishing a unified data architecture - Build and maintain dbt models with comprehensive testing, documentation, and clear data contracts - Establish data quality, observability, and reliability practices to shift from reactive to intentional pipeline maintenance - Own product analytics: event instrumentation, usage data models, and metrics for GTM and product teams - Partner with GTM operations to ensure data foundations support AI-driven automation and reporting consolidation - Support external research initiatives (e.g., industry benchmarks) by sourcing and validating data - Lay groundwork for high-volume and streaming ingestion (e.g., telemetry, OpenTelemetry) as the product evolves You'll work with a team of 80 engineers at a YC-backed company (Series C, $60M raised) that is SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001 certified. Clients include Rapid7, Xero, BigCommerce, Skyscanner, and others. The company is fully remote with all-hands offsites several times per year. Required qualifications: 4+ years of hands-on data engineering experience building production pipelines, proficiency with dbt and cloud data warehouses (BigQuery), strong SQL and Python skills, solid data modeling judgment, and excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders. Experience with high-volume/streaming systems, CDPs, or startups is a plus.
