Babylist is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the architecture and systems that power data engineering at scale across a $750M+ e-commerce platform serving 10M+ users. This is a senior individual contributor role sitting at the intersection of platform thinking and AI-native tooling.
You will own the design and implementation of agentic systems that automate data engineering work itself—not just building pipelines, but creating the scaffolding and systems that generate, test, and maintain them. You'll work cross-functionally with analysts, data scientists, and product teams to keep Babylist's data infrastructure reliable and ahead of business needs.
Key responsibilities include: building and scaling data pipelines for Snowflake ingestion with focus on reliability and performance; designing and shipping agentic systems for automated pipeline generation and maintenance; developing and maintaining ML pipelines for model operationalization; implementing data monitoring across complex user journeys; collaborating with analytics engineers on data modeling; and partnering with product, analyst, and ML teams on end-to-end data solutions.
You bring 7+ years of production data engineering experience with deep fluency in Python, Airflow, and dbt. You're proficient with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, EKS) and modern cloud data warehouses like Snowflake. You have hands-on experience building production AI/LLM systems—RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, tool integrations—not prototypes. You're platform-minded, seeing repetitive work as system design problems. You work cross-functionally and naturally reach for AI to move faster and improve output.
