The Data-Nexus team within R&D is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead Aidoc's data vision using a lake-house architecture and build high-scale solutions for handling diverse data assets. This is a full-product-ownership role spanning conceptualization, architecture, design, maintenance, and continuous development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing scalable, reliable, secure data infrastructure and ETL pipelines for clinical research data
- Writing production SQL, Spark jobs, and crafting evolving schemas
- Automating releases with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
- Optimizing throughput, latency, and cloud costs at large scale
- Owning the full development lifecycle from requirements through deployment and maintenance
- Collaborating with data scientists, analysts, product managers, regulatory teams, and developers
- Exploring and adopting new technologies to enhance team capabilities
Required qualifications:
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years building data or backend systems in Python or similar languages, with focus on cloud data infrastructure
- Strong SQL and pragmatic schema design experience
- Deep understanding of data modeling, ETLs, and streaming technologies (AWS Kinesis, Kafka, Spark)
- Familiarity with lakehouse/warehouse tech (Databricks, Delta Lake, Iceberg, Snowflake, Redshift)
- Strong distributed systems, microservices, containerization, and CI/CD knowledge
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK)
- Docker and Kubernetes experience
- Full product ownership mindset and agile methodology familiarity
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills
Advantages include deep Databricks expertise, knowledge of medical tech/EHR data (HL7, FHIR), imaging data, and experience in regulated domains with compliance requirements (HIPAA, FedRAMP).
