Range is building AI-powered wealth management software that consolidates investments, taxes, retirement, and estate planning into a single platform. As Senior Data Analyst, you will be an embedded analytical partner for cross-functional teams including member experience, planners, investments, and finance. You'll balance fast-turnaround ad hoc analysis with deeper investigative work, answering Slack questions with quick SQL pulls while also building dashboards and conducting deep dives into complex questions like churn trends and customer journeys.
Key responsibilities include: embedding with business units to understand their work deeply and become their go-to analytical resource; investigating ambiguous questions that lack easy answers and translating findings into actionable recommendations; owning and maintaining dashboards that drive day-to-day business decisions; and handling ad hoc support with judgment, knowing which questions warrant a five-minute answer versus a full investigation.
You'll need 5+ years in a data-focused role with time embedded alongside business teams. Advanced SQL proficiency is essential—you should write complex queries intuitively and answer the actual question asked, not just the easiest one to query. Experience with modern data stacks (dbt, cloud warehouses, BI tools like Sigma/Looker/Tableau) is required. Strong analytical thinking, the ability to frame ambiguous problems, and clear communication of insights to non-technical stakeholders are critical.
What sets candidates apart: comfort with Python for statistical work and hypothesis testing beyond SQL; demonstrated ability to leverage AI as a force multiplier in analysis, dashboarding, and communication; and strong instincts for when to use AI, verify results, and where it genuinely accelerates work.
Range operates in-office Monday through Friday at its McLean headquarters, with relocation support available for strong candidates.
