Strava is seeking a Senior Counsel to lead intellectual property, risk management, and litigation matters across the company's global platform. With over 200 million active athletes, Strava is the world's largest community for tracking workouts and connecting with others around movement and fitness. In this role, you will serve as the primary legal advisor for patent portfolio management, trademark strategy and enforcement, cybersecurity incident response, law enforcement data requests, and IP litigation. You'll operate with significant autonomy, escalating only the most complex or business-critical matters to the Deputy General Counsel. Key responsibilities include: leading trademark portfolio strategy across Strava and Runna (a subsidiary); building and protecting Strava's patent portfolio in partnership with the Engineering team; driving IP litigation matters from strategy through resolution; managing cybersecurity legal matters end-to-end; establishing scalable processes for recurring legal issues like law enforcement requests; advising Brand and Growth Marketing teams on campaign legal risks; supporting the Customer Experience team on user-interaction legal questions; and developing frameworks and playbooks to enable the legal practice area to scale with the business. You'll partner regularly with Marketing, Engineering, Customer Experience, and Security teams, bringing a commercially-minded, pragmatic approach to balancing risk and business progress. The role emphasizes embracing AI as a core working tool—using AI to drive efficiency, accelerate problem-solving, and operate with greater speed and impact. This is a hybrid position requiring more than half your time on-site in the San Francisco office, approximately three days per week. You'll report to the Deputy General Counsel and work in a fast-paced, venture-backed consumer tech environment.
