Salary: USD 180,000 - 240,000 / annual
Infleqtion, a publicly traded quantum technology company (NYSE: INFQ), is seeking a Senior Counsel for Government Contracts to report to the Chief Legal Officer. This role serves as a critical legal partner for government contracting, working closely with business development, program management, engineering, finance, and operations.
Approximately 70-80% of the position focuses on leading and supporting complex federal government research and development contracting. Core responsibilities include negotiating, interpreting, and managing a broad range of government agreements including Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs), federal R&D contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, subcontracts, subawards, and teaming agreements. The role involves advising business and program teams on FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific requirements throughout the opportunity, award, and performance lifecycle.
Key areas of focus include identifying and managing legal and business risk involving intellectual property and data rights, cost and pricing, audit, cybersecurity, export control, domestic sourcing, labor, and payment requirements. The counsel will lead internal coordination on significant government-contracting issues, including proposal strategy, contract interpretation, and performance risks. Partnership with Export Control and technical stakeholders on ITAR/EAR requirements and national-security considerations is essential.
Beyond government contracting, the role includes broader legal and operational responsibilities within a lean, high-impact legal team supporting a NYSE-listed company. This includes developing templates, playbooks, and training to enable business teams to move quickly while maintaining disciplined compliance, and supporting internal governance frameworks for government contracting.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of relevant legal experience with substantial responsibility for federal government contracting, preferably from top-tier law firms, in-house defense contractors, or government-contracts practices. Demonstrated expertise in FAR, DFARS, and OTAs is required, along with experience supporting Department of Defense or federal research and development programs. Working knowledge of intellectual property and data-rights issues, ITAR/EAR, and export-control matters is strongly preferred.
