Twilio is seeking a Senior Counsel, Commercial to join its growing legal team and support the Go-to-Market Sales organization. In this role, you will take ownership of the full lifecycle of complex enterprise sales deal negotiations, including review, drafting, and management of a wide range of commercial legal agreements. You will serve as a trusted advisor to Twilio's internal clients—particularly the enterprise sales team—providing practical guidance on contract interpretation, negotiation strategy, and risk management. Key responsibilities include: managing the negotiation and drafting of Master Services Agreements, Professional Services Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and other commercial contracts; advising internal stakeholders on contract terms and implications; ensuring compliance with applicable laws and Twilio's policies while protecting the company from legal risk; understanding customer perspectives and internal business needs to solve problems collaboratively; and triaging a heavy workflow to deliver results efficiently. You will be expected to balance legal risk with business opportunity, translating complex legal concepts into language accessible to non-lawyers, and maintaining a collaborative, open-minded approach while advocating for sound legal positions. Required qualifications: J.D. with strong academic credentials and demonstrated success as a lawyer; membership in a state bar or eligibility for Registered In-House Counsel status; 6+ years of commercial transactions experience with at least 4 years negotiating complex technology transactions (e.g., SaaS); experience supporting large sales organizations; proven ability to structure, draft, and negotiate high-volume commercial contracts; entrepreneurial, pragmatic, business-oriented judgment; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and strong workflow triage and time management abilities. The role is fully remote, based in Ontario, British Columbia, or Alberta, Canada, with occasional travel for team and project meetings.
