Salary: USD 146,700 - 203,800 / annual
Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. As the company progresses toward becoming a chartered bank, it is building a robust prudential compliance program to meet regulatory expectations.
In this Senior Compliance Risk Manager role, you will report to the Director of Bank Regulatory Compliance and lead the design and operation of Mercury's prudential regulatory compliance program. You will focus initially on Regulations W and O, translating complex regulatory requirements into scalable, measurable, and operationally integrated programs that support bank charter readiness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing Mercury's first prudential compliance program, including policies, procedures, governance frameworks, transactional controls, and ongoing monitoring activities
- Advising senior management on the permissibility and advisability of proposed transactions
- Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders (Legal, Finance, People/HR, Credit) to embed compliance into business operations
- Shaping how Mercury's most critical transactions are structured in a safe and sound manner
- Building compliance culture through training, guidance, and education on prudential regulatory obligations
- Maintaining comprehensive records and documentation of all compliance activities
- Representing program outputs and decisions to executives, internal auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders
You bring 5–7+ years of experience building and/or operating prudential compliance programs, with deep expertise in Regulations W and O and prudential regulatory frameworks. You are comfortable working with senior executives and regulators, have strong stakeholder management skills, and can influence without direct authority. You approach work with high quality standards, strong ownership, and a collaborative problem-solving mindset. Experience in quantitative fields (finance, credit, strategic operations) is a nice-to-have. You are excited about leveraging technology and AI to enhance compliance capabilities.
