Mondu is a leading European B2B payments and BNPL provider operating across 30+ markets with an EMI license. As Senior Compliance Manager, you will own the regulatory compliance framework that underpins the company's license to operate, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer.
Key responsibilities include maintaining and evolving the compliance framework to align with EMI/PI license conditions and EU/Dutch regulations (PSD2, PSR, DORA, AMLD). You will serve as the primary relationship holder with De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and other supervisory authorities, managing regulatory correspondence, license conditions, and periodic reporting. You'll advise senior leadership on compliance risks arising from new products, markets, and partnerships, and draft or review compliance policies, governance documentation, and internal control frameworks.
You will conduct compliance risk assessments and gap analyses ahead of regulatory audits and license renewals, support Board and management committee governance reporting, and act as a compliance advisor to Product and Commercial teams during contract review and new product launches. The role includes identifying opportunities to embed AI and automation into compliance workflows to enable efficient scaling.
Required qualifications include approximately 5 years of compliance experience within a bank, EMI/PI, or regulated financial services entity. You must have deep knowledge of Dutch and EU regulatory frameworks governing payments and e-money institutions, demonstrated experience managing regulator relationships (DNB, AFM, or equivalent), and strong policy drafting and governance documentation skills. You should be comfortable advising senior stakeholders on compliance risk in a fast-moving environment, possess a solution-oriented mindset, and have experience with AI usage and automation.
Desirable experience includes prior work in BNPL, merchant payments, or EMIs; familiarity with financial services governance requirements; and hands-on experience implementing compliance tasks using AI.
