Salary: USD 250,000 - 325,000 / annual
Mesh is a crypto payments infrastructure company backed by PayPal Ventures, Paradigm, and Galaxy Ventures. The company enables consumers to pay and be paid with tokenized assets, bridging the gap between crypto and everyday commerce.
As Senior Compliance Director, you will own and evolve Mesh's compliance program across crypto, traditional finance, and DeFi-adjacent product lines. Key responsibilities include:
• Design and scale the compliance program to match business growth across multiple jurisdictions
• Analyze legislation, regulatory guidance, and industry practices, translating them into actionable policies and procedures
• Advise Product and Engineering on compliance implications of new features, wallet integrations, payment flows, and international expansion
• Design control processes for regulatory reporting, transaction monitoring, and licensing obligations
• Partner with business leaders to respond to regulatory inquiries, exams, and audits (domestic and international)
• Serve as primary contact with regulators, government officials, banking partners, and senior management
• Lead and mentor compliance team members as the function scales
• Monitor global regulatory developments in crypto, stablecoins, and digital asset payments
• Chair the Compliance Oversight Committee, driving cross-functional accountability for regulatory risk
• Build and maintain compliance risk assessment and testing programs in partnership with risk management
You bring 10+ years of compliance, legal, or regulatory experience with meaningful exposure to both crypto/digital assets and traditional financial services. Direct experience obtaining and maintaining Money Transmitter Licenses across U.S. states is required. You have thorough knowledge of AML/BSA, Code of Ethics programs, sanctions, and licensing frameworks relevant to crypto payments. You excel at translating complex regulatory concepts for technical and non-technical audiences, handle high-stakes ambiguous situations with composure, and have a strong track record engaging with senior management and federal, state, and international regulators. Preferred qualifications include experience building or scaling compliance at a high-growth fintech or crypto company, and hands-on understanding of digital asset transaction lifecycles, custody, and settlement.
