Shield AI is a venture-backed defense-tech company developing intelligent autonomy systems, aircraft platforms, and simulation technologies to protect service members and civilians. The company operates globally with offices across the US, Europe, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
You will lead Shield AI's earned media and communications strategy across the Middle East region, serving as the primary regional communications leader. Your responsibilities span three core areas:
**Earned Media & Press Strategy:** Build and grow Shield AI's media footprint across the Middle East by developing relationships with defense, technology, and business journalists covering the region. Develop proactive media strategies tied to product milestones, contract announcements, partnerships, and major defense exhibitions. Serve as the regional point of contact for media inquiries and manage sensitive or reactive communications. Prepare executives and spokespeople for media interviews, manage press logistics, and monitor industry trends and competitive intelligence.
**Content Development & Storytelling:** Create regional content including press releases, bylines, talking points, speeches, and executive briefing materials that articulate Shield AI's technology and mission to Middle East audiences. Localize and adapt global Shield AI narratives for regional context, cultural nuance, and stakeholder priorities while maintaining core brand consistency.
**Narrative & Positioning:** Shape and protect Shield AI's reputation as a credible, consistent, and trustworthy long-term defense technology partner. Build visibility that reinforces Shield AI's regional commitment. Anticipate and manage narrative risk, including geopolitical sensitivities and regional perceptions of foreign defense technology providers.
You will operate with high autonomy, manage projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and work across cross-cultural teams.
**Requirements:**
- 8+ years of communications experience in defense, aerospace, government, or technology sectors (mix of in-house and agency experience welcome)
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, political science, international relations, or similar field
- Native Arabic speaker with fluent English; exceptional written and verbal storytelling skills and attention to detail (additional languages a plus)
- Proven experience developing content and messaging, media relations, executive communications, and issues management; ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences
- Demonstrated track record securing earned media coverage in Middle East markets, with focus on UAE, KSA, and Qatar
- Deep understanding of GCC defense and government landscape, including key stakeholders and cultural/political sensitivities
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; ability to identify brand enhancement opportunities and assess gaps and risks
- Experience working across cross-cultural teams and managing stakeholders
- Interest in AI, autonomy, and defense technology
