Deliveroo, now part of DoorDash, is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel, Procurement to join its London legal team. This hybrid role (minimum 3 days/week in-office at The River Building HQ) sits within the Technology and Procurement team under the Senior Director, Associate General Counsel for UK & Ireland.
You will provide high-quality, risk-based legal advice across commercial and procurement matters, including technology procurement, AI vendor agreements, payment services provider contracts, marketing and advertising procurement, commercial disputes, and material outsourcings. Your responsibilities span negotiating complex multi-jurisdictional agreements, managing SaaS platform rollouts across multiple jurisdictions, and supporting business-as-usual contracting.
Day-to-day activities include: structuring and negotiating diverse commercial agreements from off-the-shelf SaaS contracts to large-scale outsourcings; delivering pragmatic, business-focused advice to stakeholders across Tech, Marketing, People, Finance, and Supply Chain; leading legal strategy in cross-functional working groups and steering committees; synthesizing complex legal risks into actionable insights for executive leadership; providing proactive training on emerging topics like AI risk management and vendor compliance; and driving operational excellence through improved contracting processes.
You must be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales with significant experience advising international businesses on commercial and strategic matters. Essential expertise includes technology procurement, AI vendor agreements, payment service provider contracts, and material outsourcings. You'll need proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, influence across matrixed organizations, and communicate complex legal concepts to varied audiences. Strong commercial acumen, pragmatic problem-solving, and a growth mindset are critical.
Nice-to-have qualifications include familiarity with evolving regulatory frameworks (payment services, AI compliance) and prior in-house legal experience at high-growth tech companies or internationally managed/US-owned corporates.
