Relativity Space is building advanced rockets, including the Terran R vehicle, to serve growing demand for launch capacity. The company combines 3D printing technology with aerospace engineering to pioneer new approaches to rocket manufacturing and space access.
The Senior Commercial Counsel will serve as strategic legal counsel supporting Relativity's buy-side commercial transactions and disputes. This role partners cross-functionally to structure and lead negotiations of agreements for technology development, scalable manufacturing, commodities, rocket parts and components, and capex purchase and lease arrangements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Structuring and negotiating transactions that enable technology and manufacturing maturity, ensuring alignment with company objectives, financial plans, and legal positions
- Leading high-stakes negotiations for significant transactions, providing strategic counsel on commercial terms, risk allocation, and financial implications
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of contracts including technology development agreements, rocket parts procurement, manufacturing services, commodities, and capex arrangements
- Providing strategic counsel that translates legal complexity into clear business guidance for leadership and cross-functional teams
- Developing, implementing, and scaling strategies, standards, and playbooks for negotiation, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution
- Managing post-contract execution risks and disputes in partnership with business stakeholders
- Creating a foundation of standards and practices that enable effective scaling of the contract management function to support rapid growth
