VPL is a healthcare logistics technology company that powers the movement of medications and medical supplies across the healthcare ecosystem. We're seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Developer to own our Power BI implementation and dashboards.
In this role, you'll design, develop, and maintain the business intelligence layer in our analytics tech stack. The dashboards you build are customer-facing and provide critical information to healthcare customers, directly supporting better patient outcomes. You'll be part of the Data & Analytics team that owns VPL's data journey—from source acquisition through data warehouse ingestion to reporting, dashboards, and predictive modeling.
Key responsibilities include:
- Administering the Power BI environment and maintaining architecture and implementation standards
- Building and managing data extracts between the enterprise data warehouse and Microsoft Fabric
- Partnering with product software developers to embed reports into customer-facing applications
- Researching and resolving data issues raised by customers and internal users
- Owning resolution for Power BI system issues by identifying root causes and implementing solutions
- Reviewing product briefs with the Product Management team and refining requirements
- Identifying data gaps by working backwards from Power BI requirements and determining whether resolution should occur in Power BI or the database layer
- Ensuring consistent design patterns and user experience across dashboards
- Creating visualizations and suggesting alternative options where appropriate
- Cross-training team members and learning upstream data engineering processes
Required skills include 5+ years of Power BI administration and/or report development with DAX query editing experience, 3+ years using Microsoft Fabric to extract from data warehouses, 3+ years writing and reading SQL against dimensional data models, experience modifying database models to support reporting needs, and strong communication skills between business and technical teams.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with Snowflake or SQL Server, knowledge of database modeling methods, and prior work in agile environments. This is a key role in driving VPL's rapid growth through data-driven product and business decisions.
