TheSkimm (part of CNET Group/Ziff Davis) is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to modernize data extraction, automation, and presentation. This role bridges AI automation and data storytelling, requiring a hands-on builder with 3–5 years of experience in management consulting, commercial analytics, or consultive BI work.
You will translate complex data models into trusted, digestible insights for leadership and cross-functional teams. The company's data infrastructure is already structured in Snowflake and BigQuery; this role focuses on analytics and BI rather than backend engineering. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead data-driven alignment meetings across business dependencies, explaining complex narratives to non-technical stakeholders.
• Leverage modern AI tools (Claude, Gemini, OpenAI LLMs) integrated with Snowflake/BigQuery to automate data discovery, anomaly detection, and performance summaries.
• Develop and optimize Looker Explores and dashboards using LookML to provide a single version of truth for commerce metrics.
• Build specific, actionable reports for Editorial, Sales, and Finance teams, uncovering root causes and category-level trends.
• Implement validation, monitoring, and reconciliation frameworks for financial and commerce datasets.
• Partner with Editorial, SEO, and Product teams to optimize content monetization and user conversion funnels.
• Train and mentor the analytics team on generative AI tools, prompt engineering, and database connectors.
Required qualifications: 4–6 years in management consulting or consultive BI; advanced SQL and Looker expertise; strong Excel modeling and executive-level presentation skills; hands-on experience automating workflows with AI/LLMs; intermediate SQL with daily experience querying Snowflake, BigQuery, or GCP; deep BI platform experience (Looker, Tableau, Power BI); exceptional communication and storytelling abilities.
Preferred: e-commerce and site performance metrics knowledge (CVR, CTR, RPV, traffic sourcing); affiliate marketing network familiarity (Impact, Partnerize, Rakuten, CJ, Amazon Associates); Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business, Economics, or related field.
Special condition: Role requires working major shopping holidays (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Prime Day) to monitor live data and provide insights. EST hours required.
