Flexport is hiring a Senior Business Development Manager for its Control Tower product line, based in Chicago with up to 25% travel across the Central region (Midwest and South).
Control Tower is Flexport's fastest-growing product—a unified platform for order management, booking management, buyer's consolidation, and supply chain optimization. In this role, you will drive pipeline, award conversion, and revenue growth for the Control Tower business across the Central region. You'll serve as the Control Tower subject matter expert embedded in the sales process, partnering with Account Executives and sales leadership to run customer conversations, shape solutions, demo the technology, and price deals profitably.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own Central region growth by driving customer count, Control Tower volume, and profitability across your sales regions
- Partner with Account Executives on customer calls, coach deal strategy, and serve as the Control Tower expert throughout the sales cycle
- Conduct supply chain solutioning by understanding prospects' current workflows, systems, and staffing to design the right fit for order management, booking management, buyer's consolidation, or supply chain optimization
- Build ROI cases using customer data on software costs, headcount, and processes to quantify savings and prove the value of switching to Flexport
- Lead commercial strategy on Control Tower deals to ensure profitable business closure, not just fast signing
- Demo the technology to Account Executives and prospects, highlighting differentiation from point solutions and manual processes
- Translate contracts into operational SOPs and assist with implementation for solutions you create
- Stay engaged post-close to convert awarded volume into actual shipments, protecting attainment against original awards
This is a consultative, value-based sell with longer cycles than transactional deals. You'll need genuine fluency in prospects' supply chains, systems, and headcount to build credible business cases and defend pricing.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of quota-carrying sales or business development experience, ideally in supply chain, logistics, or supply chain software
- Consultative selling experience with longer, value-based sales cycles
- Working knowledge of supply chain operations: order management, booking and vendor management, buyer's consolidation, and how shippers manage inbound freight
- ROI and business case fluency; ability to turn current-state costs and workflows into quantified savings stories
- Strong presence with both Account Executives and customers; ability to coach sales teams and pitch technology to prospects and executives
- Based in Chicago, IL preferred, with flexibility to travel up to 25% across the Midwest and South
- Bachelor's degree; MBA or equivalent operating experience welcome
