Vivodyne is a biotech company that creates human data before clinical trials by testing on large, lab-grown human organ tissues at massive scale. The company combines novel biology, robotics, and AI to accelerate drug discovery and development, partnering with top pharmaceutical companies.
The Senior Bioinformatician will join the Software & Data Science team to develop analytical methods and build robust infrastructure for high-throughput omics data processing. The role focuses on single-cell and bulk transcriptomics, secretomics, and proteomics analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
**Analytical Methods Development**: Design and implement computational approaches for scRNA-seq, bulk RNA-seq, secretomics, and proteomics data. Go beyond standard tools to develop custom methods for perturbation modeling, causal inference, network reconstruction, and multi-omics integration. Benchmark and standardize tooling based on rigorous evaluation rather than convention.
**Scalable Pipeline Architecture**: Build end-to-end analysis workflows in Python and/or R using modern orchestration tools (Nextflow, Snakemake). Design reproducible, version-controlled pipelines capable of handling tens to hundreds of thousands of samples. Partner with software engineers to productionize pipelines, ensure robust data ingestion, and contribute to biological data architecture decisions.
**Biological Insight & Interpretation**: Own dataset analysis to answer biological and client-driven questions with scientific rigor. Collaborate with experimental biologists to frame relevant questions, design analyses, and recommend data-generation strategies. Produce publication-quality figures and partner-facing deliverables.
**Data Strategy**: Help define benchmarking strategies for tissue model development. Identify opportunities to leverage internal and public datasets. Contribute to decisions around data standards, comparability, and integration of omics features into ML/AI workflows.
**Cross-functional Communication**: Translate complex analyses into clear insights for biologists, AI/ML researchers, software engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
This is a full-time, onsite role in San Francisco with high impact across the organization.
