Airwallex is a unified payments and financial platform serving over 250,000 global businesses. This newly created Senior Associate role focuses on regulatory compliance for Airwallex's UK operations, reporting to the Senior Manager of Regulatory Compliance, UK.
You will be the key regulatory liaison between Airwallex and UK regulators (primarily the FCA), managing licensing responsibilities, regulatory reporting obligations, and compliance across all UK Group entities. Core responsibilities include: supporting licence authorization processes and business plan updates; maintaining accurate regulatory filings and license renewals; managing on-site regulatory examinations and inspections; advising the business on regulatory change and new UK laws; developing compliance policies and processes; managing regulatory risk within the Risk Management Framework; advising on conduct risk, Consumer Duty, complaints governance, and Financial Ombudsman Service escalations; delivering the Compliance Monitoring Program through targeted reviews; conducting compliance training; and leading special projects to unlock business or operational issues.
You will act as a trusted second-line-of-defence partner, collaborating across the business to ensure product and process maturity while maintaining regulatory obligations. The role requires deep expertise in financial services regulation, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable business guidance.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree with minimum 4 years of regulatory compliance experience in a financial institution, FinTech, legal/consulting firm, or combination thereof. The ideal candidate brings UK financial services regulatory expertise, FCA familiarity, and experience in a fast-growing, regulated environment.
