trawa is a fast-growing B2B energy platform helping European companies reduce electricity costs by up to 30% through integrated procurement, energy management, and flexibility steering. Based in Berlin with ~100 FTE and €35M+ in funding (Series A €24M, May 2025), the company is expanding across Europe. You will join the Energy Operations team reporting to the Energy Operations Manager, with close collaboration with the COO and Trading Team. This is an office-first role (5 days/week in Berlin) with no direct reports initially, but a clear mandate to build and grow assigned business areas. Key Responsibilities: • Own the railway power (Bahnstrom) business segment from trading and energy perspectives: understand market setup, improve demand forecasting, optimize sourcing/pricing/supply, and become the go-to partner for railway customers. Build partnerships with railway IT service providers and infrastructure operators. • Lead international expansion of railway power offerings into further European markets: analyze market structures, regulation, and commercial potential; develop go-to-market plans. • Expand long-term product offerings (PPAs, Futures/Forwards) to better serve customer needs. • Architect the end-to-end long-term trading process: centralize and streamline pricing, offer creation, and trade execution across Sales, Pricing, Trading, and Operations to improve speed, robustness, and scalability. • Bridge trading and business functions: translate quant models and data science insights into cross-functional processes and systems that drive better pricing, risk management, and customer decisions. 90-Day Goals: By week 6, understand trawa's business, energy value chain, railway power customers, and current long-term trading process pain points. By month 3, become the go-to railway power expert with implemented improvements and forecast enhancements; deliver market expansion assessment with country recommendation and partner outreach; design and begin implementing target long-term trading process with proposed product additions. Requirements: • Strong quantitative skills: analytical mindset, comfort with numbers and data, ability to challenge quantitative results. Ideally a degree in quantitative or business field (economics, engineering, industrial engineering, business administration). • Business acumen and venture mindset: commercial thinking, ability to build new business areas from scratch, impact-driven prioritization. • Interest in energy markets and trading: fascination with wholesale/forward markets, PPAs, hedging, pricing; first exposure to these topics is a strong plus. • Hungry and ambitious: desire to grow fast, take on responsibility early, set high standards, find answers independently, embrace steep learning curves. • High ownership and structured execution: drive topics end-to-end, align cross-functional stakeholders, turn ideas into scalable processes with measurable impact. • Communication: native-level German and very good English; ability to translate between commercial, quantitative, and operational perspectives. • Preferred: work experience in high-paced environments (start-up, scale-up, consulting); experience in energy trading, origination, pricing, or financial trading; knowledge of German energy market or railway power (16.7 Hz traction power) market; affinity for AI-powered tools and automation.
