Datadog's Applied AI team is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to design and build algorithmically driven features within the Datadog observability platform. You will focus on machine learning and statistical techniques applied to streaming data analysis, including anomaly detection, error outlier identification, and faulty deployment analysis.
In this role, you will research and benchmark algorithms for different use cases, develop scalable ML-powered product features, and take ownership of deploying and monitoring models in production. You'll work closely with engineering and product partners to explore, build, and deliver features incubated within the Applied AI team. Key responsibilities include designing solutions for various use cases, leveraging machine learning and statistical techniques, developing and deploying features to production, participating in the team's journal club to stay current with academic research, analyzing high-volume data flowing through Datadog systems, maintaining models and infrastructure, and participating in on-call rotations.
You should have a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field (or equivalent experience). You'll need hands-on experience with high-scale systems and datasets, including building models, applying ML to real business problems, and writing production data pipelines. Strong communication skills are essential—you should be able to explain complex algorithms to non-technical audiences. You care about code simplicity and performance and are excited about working on user-facing products.
Datadog operates as a hybrid workplace, valuing office culture while enabling work-life harmony. The role offers competitive global benefits, new hire stock equity (RSUs), an employee stock purchase plan, opportunities to collaborate across Datadog offices in New York and Paris, conference attendance, mentorship programs, and an inclusive company culture with employee resource groups.
