The Mobile Core team is transitioning to a platform model, providing underlying systems, frameworks, and components for product teams across the company. As a Senior Android Engineer, you'll be a key technical contributor to the Native Systems Layer, ensuring the mobile foundation is reliable, scalable, and easy for other teams to build upon.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain and evolve the Native Component Library built with Jetpack Compose, ensuring components are scalable, accessible, and consumable by product teams for consistent experiences.
- Elevate Android Developer Experience by optimizing CI/CD pipelines, expanding test automation, and hardening multi-team release processes.
- Maintain a high-performance networking stack handling offline-first synchronization, intelligent caching, and secure data transit between native services and cloud.
- Own implementation of low-level protocols (BLE, NFC, custom Wi-Fi handshakes) enabling secure and reliable communication between phones and physical hardware.
- Optimize the type-safe native-web bridge allowing dynamic web components to interact securely with native device sensors, secure enclaves, and core system logic.
- Act as technical consultant to product teams, evaluating architectural patterns like Server-Driven UI to balance native performance with engineering velocity.
Required qualifications: 6+ years professional Android development with deep Kotlin and Android SDK mastery. Strong experience with mobile CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Bitrise) and test-first mentality. Deep understanding of networking stack (OkHttp, Retrofit, Protobuf) and experience with unreliable network conditions at scale. Hands-on experience with Bluetooth (BLE), NFC, or Android background execution limits. Expert proficiency in Jetpack Compose and experience scaling shared UI libraries across teams. Experience managing Google Play Store release cycles for high-frequency deployment apps with multiple contributors.
