As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will own the data stack end-to-end, from ingestion through the semantic layer. Your responsibilities include:
- Owning data modeling and the semantic layer that powers all downstream analytics
- Migrating remaining pipelines to dlt, using Python for full control
- Building reliability into the stack through scheduling, monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Managing self-hosted Lightdash deployment and operations
- Enabling conversational analytics so users can query data in plain language with confidence
You bring 4+ years of analytics or data engineering experience, ideally having owned an entire data stack. You have strong opinions on dimensional modeling, layering, and data contracts. You know dbt deeply—materializations, incremental strategies, macros, CI/CD, and its limitations. You write production-quality Python with solid understanding of data ingestion patterns (APIs, pagination, incremental loads, schema drift handling). Experience with dlt is a bonus. You're comfortable owning deployed infrastructure and have experience with Airflow, Dagster, or similar orchestration tools. You're pragmatic, starting from business needs and knowing when good enough is sufficient.
Tech stack: BigQuery (data warehouse), dbt (transformation), dlt (ingestion), Lightdash (BI/semantic layer), PostHog (event tracking).
