Zillow Group is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join its Data Science, Analytics and Engineering team in Bengaluru. This role is central to supporting multiple business lines across the company by partnering with business leaders and engineering teams to model, analyze, and surface business-relevant metrics that inform strategic and operational decision-making.
In this position, you will build and own data models and metric definitions that stakeholders across Zillow depend on for consumer analytics, including marketing, lead generation, and site traffic. You'll develop a deep understanding of multiple domains end-to-end and own how metrics interact across them, while setting high engineering standards for the team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining dimensional data models and metric definitions using SQL and dbt (or equivalent) to establish metrics-as-code as an enterprise asset
- Designing data-quality tests, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data products are trusted by default
- Partnering with data engineering to define upstream requirements and resolve data-quality issues at the source
- Working directly with US-based BI analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand their actual needs
- Defining and evangelizing semantic layer definitions that make metrics usable by BI tools, data scientists, and AI systems
- Owning multiple data domains end-to-end, mentoring other engineers, and resolving metric governance across teams
The team operates with a flat structure, and you will interact directly across a wide variety of roles. Zillow Group is a strategic, mission-driven organization focused on delivering exceptional experiences and measurable outcomes, with deep experience working across diverse teams in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
This is an office position requiring employees to work at the Bengaluru office approximately 80-100% of the time each month. Employees must live within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional data experience, with deep semantic modeling or metric ownership
- Expert SQL proficiency, with thought leadership about how grain, joins, and schema evolution affect relational modeling and metric implementation
- Experience with dbt or an equivalent transformation framework, plus Git and CI/CD best practices
- Comfort operating across large time-zone gaps; proactive asynchronous communication and ability to exercise technical judgment independently
- Track record of evolving how AI systems, conversational analytics tools, and machine learning workflows consume structured data
- In-depth experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar) and BI tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar)
- Non-traditional backgrounds with transferable skills are encouraged to apply
