N26 is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join the Analytics Engineering & Governance Enablement (AEGE) team, part of the broader Analytics Engineering & Data Governance function. This role sits at the enabling end of the spectrum, building standards and tooling that the analytics engineering community depends on to ship trusted data products.
You will own and evolve N26's core dbt services, maintaining CI/CD infrastructure, driving performance improvements, enforcing quality standards, and supporting a large community of data practitioners. You'll serve as the engineering interface for the analytics engineering community, unblocking practitioners, reviewing shared patterns, and raising the bar on project quality, model structure, and SQL craft.
Key responsibilities include improving data quality and governance infrastructure (anomaly detection, freshness monitoring, drift detection, data contract enforcement), shaping data governance practices around data ownership and contract-first design, contributing to Python-based tooling with well-tested and maintainable code, and collaborating with the data platform team on shared infrastructure direction.
You should excel at problem-solving, scoping issues quickly and finding root causes. Strong Python skills are essential—typed, tested, maintainable code that others can build on. You need solid SQL expertise, able to read query plans, identify performance bottlenecks, and set high standards for production SQL. Experience with dbt at scale is critical: macros, hooks, incremental models, project structure, and CI/CD integration on large multi-team projects.
