Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical data via a cloud-based platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. As a Senior Analyst in International Trade Compliance, you will be part of Planet's global Legal organization, working on high-impact compliance and regulatory matters with significant financial implications.
You will serve as a key member of the ITC team, interfacing regularly with engineers, supply chain, IT, security, and international personnel, as well as external counsel and vendors. Your primary focus will be ensuring compliance with export/import laws and regulations, while also supporting economic sanctions and anti-bribery/anti-corruption compliance initiatives.
Key responsibilities include: providing guidance on US government regulations (ITAR and EAR); managing the full lifecycle of export/import authorizations for supply chain, vendor hardware, and technology/software licensing; conducting training and stakeholder communications on export/import compliance; serving as interface with US government agencies; developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures; reviewing and approving international shipment requests; assessing export classification of technologies; preparing and filing Commodity Jurisdiction and Classification Requests; negotiating export/import control matters; and supporting compliance audits and investigations.
You will work independently and collaboratively with technical subject matter experts to document export classifications, track new technology developments, and resolve compliance challenges in a win-win manner. This hybrid role requires 3 days per week in the San Francisco headquarters.
Required qualifications: 4+ years in international trade compliance, legal, or contracting; bachelor's degree in a relevant field; strong experience reading and applying ITAR and EAR; excellent written and oral communication; high attention to detail; ability to work independently and influence stakeholders across departments without direct authority; proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
