Drata is seeking a Senior AI Product Engineer to own full-stack development of customer-facing AI features within their compliance automation platform. This role bridges AI capability and user experience—you'll build React/TypeScript frontends and Node.js/Python backends that translate LLM capabilities, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows into intuitive product experiences for compliance practitioners.
Key responsibilities include: shipping end-to-end AI-powered features with real-time streaming and human-in-the-loop patterns; partnering with AI Engineers to define API contracts and output schemas; advocating for user perspective in technical decisions; building user-facing feedback loops to capture AI output quality signals; instrumenting features with product-level observability (latency, engagement, task completion); establishing reusable patterns (streaming hooks, feedback components, AI state management) to accelerate future development; and mentoring engineers new to AI product work.
Required experience: 5+ years software engineering with proven full-stack shipping; 2+ years on AI-powered product features. Strong React and TypeScript proficiency for responsive, interactive UIs handling async and streaming data. Solid Python and Node.js/TypeScript backend skills with API design experience integrating LLM providers and AI services. Hands-on LLM API experience (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) with practical understanding of prompt engineering, context management, RAG, and structured outputs in production. Familiarity with agent frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain) and building product surfaces on multi-step workflows. Experience implementing streaming patterns (SSE, WebSockets) and building UIs for progressive, partial outputs. Strong product sense and user experience intuition. Track record collaborating with AI/ML engineers, product managers, and designers in cross-functional teams with ambiguous requirements and fast iteration.
Bonus: compliance/security/GRC domain experience; MCP or tool-use interfaces for AI agents; RAG system design exposure; feedback and annotation tooling for AI output quality.
