Heidi Health is building AI Care Partners for clinicians to reduce administrative burden and strengthen patient care. The company has achieved product-market fit with a freemium medical scribe used across 190+ countries, supporting 2.5 million patient sessions weekly. As a Senior AI Models Engineer, you will own system design, technical decisions, and customer outcomes across four core areas: model customization, deployment and inference, agent systems, and customer delivery. You are not expected to specialize in all areas but should bring strong experience in at least two and collaborate effectively across the others. Model Customization: Convert customer use cases into training and evaluation plans, select appropriate data and models, fine-tune for specialized domains, and iterate based on testing and production feedback. Deployment and Inference: Design cost-effective cloud or on-premises deployment strategies, select infrastructure and serving configurations, optimize reliability and latency, and build monitoring and recovery processes. Agent Systems: Build agent workflows around language models, integrate with customer data and existing systems, and add production-grade controls and observability. Customer Delivery: Understand customer requirements and constraints, communicate trade-offs between quality, cost, privacy, and complexity, and guide solutions from discovery through production launch. You should have practical experience building or operating production AI systems, solid software engineering or machine learning engineering skills, familiarity with open-weight language models and the modern LLM ecosystem, and strong judgment balancing model quality, cost, latency, and reliability. Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential. Heidi values building for impact over quarterly targets, leading proactively, following evidence, owning outcomes end-to-end, shipping and iterating rapidly, and understanding clinician workflows. The company offers $1,000 annual L&D budget, $150/month wellness allowance, $500 home office budget, 26 weeks paid primary parental leave, 18 weeks paid secondary parental leave, fertility support up to $10,000, four weeks work-from-anywhere annually, and equity.
