1Password, a market-leading enterprise password manager and Unified Access Management platform with $400M+ ARR, is seeking a Senior Accountant, Tax to join its growing tax team. Reporting to the Director of Tax, this role is central to maintaining tax compliance, supporting financial reporting, and optimizing the company's overall tax position across US and Canadian operations.
Key responsibilities include preparing quarterly tax provisions using the AETR method, maintaining tax balance sheet reconciliations, quantifying uncertain tax positions, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP (ASC 740). You will review accounting department schedules, assist with year-end provision calculations in partnership with external tax consultants, and maintain tax-related accounts during the accounting close process. The role also involves preparing tax accounting memos for complex transactions, supporting audit activities, and managing tax budget forecasts and quarterly estimates.
On the compliance side, you will prepare and review income tax returns (federal, state, provincial, and local), ensure timely filings, and manage tax compliance calendars. You'll also support tax provision and compliance software operations, contribute to process improvements, and collaborate with Finance AI leaders to evaluate AI tools (Dust, Notion AI, ChatGPT) that can accelerate efficiencies.
Required qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of progressive corporate tax provision and compliance experience at a public accounting firm or corporate tax department, with strong technical knowledge of US and Canadian income tax laws. CPA designation is strongly preferred. You must demonstrate expertise in US GAAP tax accounting, AETR reporting, NetSuite, and income tax compliance software such as OneSource. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, sumifs, v-lookups, index formulas) are essential. Experience with Canadian SR&ED and US R&D tax credits is a plus.
