Notion is a collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents work together, combining knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools in one place. The company serves millions of individuals, small teams, and large enterprises.
As a Senior Accountant in Corporate Accounting, you will own key areas of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. You will partner closely with the FP&A team and cross-functional stakeholders to explain financial fluctuations, surface issues, and support accurate reporting at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own assigned areas across monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles: prepare accurate journal entries and adjustments with clear supporting documentation, and complete close work on schedule.
- By day 90, independently manage assigned close areas, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and resolve outstanding items with a clear escalation rhythm.
- By day 90, analyze financial results and explain variance drivers in management reporting, partnering with FP&A and other stakeholders to make numbers clear and actionable.
- By day 90, use AI-enabled tools and automation to streamline analysis, reconciliations, and recurring workflows, freeing time for higher-judgment accounting work.
- By end of year one, strengthen controls and accounting processes across your areas to support accurate financial statements.
- By end of year one, drive scalable improvements across Corporate Accounting, collaborating with FP&A, AP, Legal, and other teams to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule: in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (Anchor Days).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accrual accounting, applied to produce accurate and well-supported accounting outcomes.
- Progressive accounting experience with 5+ years of hands-on ownership of month-end close processes.
- Proficiency with NetSuite and an active, practical approach to using AI and automation to streamline accounting workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional partnerships and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels, including explaining fluctuations and their business drivers.
- Ownership mindset, sound judgment, and continuous-improvement orientation: you look for ways to make work more accurate, scalable, and easier for others to build on.
