Wander operates two businesses on one platform: Wander.com, a leading marketplace for vacation homes, and WanderOS, an operating system for property managers to manage direct bookings, guest marketing, distribution, and payments. The company is Series B, gearing up for Series C, with rapid product velocity across AI agents, payments, new distribution channels, and performance products. As Senior Accountant (L6), you will be an individual contributor reporting to the VP of Finance, owning the accounting foundation for this high-growth company. This is not a maintenance role—you will build systems, not just maintain them. **Core Responsibilities:** Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close end-to-end: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare financial statements and variance analysis. Shorten the close every quarter by documenting processes, automating repeatable parts, and building controls for scale. Own revenue accounting across both businesses: guest bookings and host payouts on the marketplace, WanderOS subscriptions and usage, and payment processing under ASC 606. Reconcile payment processor and bank activity (Stripe and partners) to the ledger. Partner with Product and Engineering so new products and pricing launch with accounting already figured out. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense management, and payroll journal entries with the Accounting Supervisor. Ensure hosts, vendors, and partners are paid correctly and on time. Coordinate with external auditors on audit requests, workpapers, and filings. Support tax compliance with external tax partners: income tax, sales and lodging taxes across jurisdictions, 1099s, and multi-state registrations. Build policies, controls, and documentation for Series C investors and future public company auditors. Own and evolve the finance systems stack: general ledger, close tooling, expense and AP platforms, and integrations with product data. Use AI tooling to automate routine reconciliations, flux analysis, and documentation. Translate numbers for the VP of Finance, founder, and leadership team. Build high-trust relationships across Finance, Product, Engineering, Operations, and external partners. **Requirements:** 5 to 8+ years of accounting experience with a significant track record owning a monthly close at a high-growth company. Startup, marketplace, or SaaS experience strongly preferred. CPA (or equivalent) strongly preferred; Big 4 or public accounting experience is a plus. Deep working knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition; ability to research technical accounting questions and write defensible positions. Hands-on with modern general ledger systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or similar), close and reconciliation tooling, and payment processor data (Stripe or similar). Advanced spreadsheet skills; SQL is a plus. Data-first analytical thinking with ability to reconcile to the penny and explain variances. Clear written and verbal communication. High agency in high ambiguity; ability to thrive on change and maintain unrelenting pace. Demonstrated fluency with AI tooling in finance or operations context. Commitment to getting it right with high standards. **Additional Assets:** Experience in travel, hospitality, vacation rentals, property management, or another marketplace with two-sided money movement. Experience with sales and lodging tax compliance across US states, or payments and money transmission accounting. Experience preparing a company for its first audit, financing, or systems migration. Prior entrepreneurial experience. Personal commitment to continuous development through courses, books, or mentors.
