Swarm Aero is building the world's largest swarming UAV network and Command & Control software for autonomous defense systems. The company is Series A-funded with a team experienced in aerospace design and defense contracting. This is a senior accounting role focused on owning the financial operations of a fast-moving aerospace and defense company. You will manage month-end closes, maintain the general ledger, and establish accounting processes and controls that scale with the company. The role requires someone who can handle complex, non-routine transactions—from inventory accounting as the company moves from prototypes to production, to government contract cost accounting under FAR/CAS/DCAA frameworks, to revenue recognition across different contract types. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the complete month-end close: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules - Maintaining an accurate, auditable general ledger - Accounting for inventory across raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods, and cost of goods sold - Building and maintaining cost structures for government contracts, including indirect cost pools, allocation bases, and unallowable cost segregation - Supporting contract billing and revenue recognition - Preparing for and supporting external audits and government compliance reviews - Researching and documenting accounting treatment for new or unusual transactions - Managing accounts payable, expense reporting, and corporate card programs - Documenting processes and strengthening internal controls as the company scales - Evaluating and implementing accounting systems as the company grows You will work closely with finance leadership and partner with operations, supply chain, and program teams. This role emphasizes ownership and judgment—the company values how you think and your ability to build processes from scratch over years of experience alone. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years of accounting experience with demonstrated ownership of close, reconciliations, and general ledger - Strong command of GAAP and ability to apply judgment when answers are not obvious - Experience in environments where numbers are tested closely: audits, compliance reviews, or complex cost accounting - Comfort with physical costs: inventory, purchase orders, vendors, and production - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field - Strong Excel skills and experience with an ERP or accounting system (NetSuite or similar) - Attention to detail and proven ability to deliver clean work under deadlines - U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent resident status, or eligibility to obtain required State Department authorizations (ITAR requirement) BONUS: - CPA or progress toward certification - Familiarity with FAR, CAS, or DCAA requirements - Experience standing up processes or systems from scratch
