Rhino + Jetty is a market-leading rental housing platform making housing more affordable and accessible for millions of renters. The company pioneered security deposit insurance and now offers a growing suite of products including deposit management, lease guarantees, and loss-of-employment protection. Rhino supports 3 million rental units nationwide and partners with 47 of the NMHC Top 100 property owners. As Senior Accountant, you'll report to the Director of Finance and Accounting and own meaningful areas of the general ledger while helping strengthen processes and controls as the company scales. You'll mentor junior team members and gain broad exposure across a fast-growing fintech/insurtech business. Key responsibilities include owning significant components of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes (journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations); preparing and reviewing financial statements under US GAAP; handling complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), prepaid/accrued expenses, equity, and insurance-related balances (premiums receivable, claims reserves, carrier settlements, fiduciary assets/liabilities); participating in strategic growth projects including system implementations; supporting annual audits and tax filings; reconciling high-volume transaction data between operational systems and the general ledger; identifying and driving process improvements and automation; assisting with cash management and treasury reconciliations; mentoring staff accountants; and partnering with FP&A, RevOps, and business teams on analysis and ad hoc projects. You'll bring 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally mixing public accounting and in-house roles. CPA or active CPA candidacy is strongly preferred. You have strong command of US GAAP, hands-on month-end close and financial statement preparation experience, and ideally experience at a high-growth startup, fintech, or insurance business. You're proficient with modern ERP/GL systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets. You're detail-oriented, analytical, a self-starter comfortable with ownership and ambiguity, and a clear communicator who can work cross-functionally. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
