Salary: USD 80,000 - 95,000 / annual
In Tandem is a family technology company operating four brands—OurFamilyWizard, Cozi, FamilyWall, and Custody Navigator—that help families manage routines, communicate, and navigate life transitions. As Senior Accountant, you will own critical aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring the integrity of financial records that leadership relies on for decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own significant portions of the close process: prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and maintain supporting schedules for key balance sheet accounts
- Manage sales tax and VAT compliance, including Avalara setup and maintenance, multi-state return filing, and coordination with outside advisors
- Support revenue recognition calculations, deferred revenue, accrued expenses, prepaid accounts, and commission/bonus/payroll entries
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, lease accounting, and support annual asset verification and impairment assessments
- Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for FamilyWall (French subsidiary)
- Prepare audit schedules and support annual financial statement audits, internal control documentation, and tax compliance
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management/board reporting packages; analyze variances and support cash flow reporting
- Drive process improvements using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) to reduce close timeline and increase team efficiency
- Assist and back up Accounts Payable; review and approve expense reimbursements
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, HR, Payroll, and Sales Operations on monthly departmental reporting
You are detail-oriented and highly organized with strong attention to accuracy. You communicate clearly in writing and verbally, translating financial details for non-finance stakeholders. You are curious, process-minded, and comfortable working independently while managing competing deadlines. You take ownership of accuracy and compliance without requiring follow-up.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years in an accounting role with hands-on experience filing sales tax returns
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA and/or Master's in Accounting or Finance a plus)
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP with hands-on experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries
- Experience with Oracle/NetSuite and Avalara; advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS; Power Query a plus)
- Comfort using AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to streamline accounting work
- Strong financial statement analysis skills
- SaaS company experience a plus
