Metropolis Technologies is an AI company pioneering the Recognition Economy, transforming how people interact with parking, retail, and hospitality through intelligent automation. We're seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team and play a central role in scaling our financial operations. In this role, you will own key areas of our monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP. You'll prepare complex journal entries, technical accounting analyses, and comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations across core accounting areas including revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets. You'll serve as the primary liaison with external auditors during annual audits, preparing audit-ready workpapers, financial statement disclosures, schedule rollforwards, and walkthrough documentation. A key responsibility is evaluating, designing, and implementing robust internal controls using a SOX-ready framework to streamline financial reporting and reduce risk as the business scales. You'll perform technical accounting research on complex or non-routine transactions and draft formal technical accounting memos. Cross-functional collaboration is essential—you'll work with FP&A, Operations, Engineering, Legal, and Tax teams to review business contracts, track capital expenditures, and ensure accurate accounting treatment. Monthly variance analyses (Actuals vs. Budget / Prior Periods) will inform actionable financial insights delivered to accounting leadership and stakeholders. We're looking for someone with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with 3+ years of progressive accounting experience including 2–3 years in national public accounting. You should be an active CPA or CPA candidate with strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, internal control frameworks, and SOX compliance. Experience managing full-cycle audit engagements and preparing complex audit workpapers is essential. Proficiency with modern ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and advanced Excel skills are required. You're proactive, analytical, and excited about leveraging modern technology and AI tools to continuously improve accounting operations and optimize workflows. Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—are critical for articulating complex accounting concepts to non-finance business partners.
