Lightmatter is a venture-backed infrastructure company that invented the world's first 3D-stacked photonics engine (Passage™) for next-generation AI and HPC data centers. The company recently raised $400M in Series D funding at a $4.4B valuation and is scaling rapidly across all departments. You will own several major customer accounts as a Senior Account Manager, serving as the primary face and voice of Lightmatter throughout the entire sales lifecycle—from initial engagement through deal closure and beyond. This is a highly visible role where you'll drive complex enterprise sales while simultaneously representing customer needs back to Lightmatter's leadership team. Key responsibilities include: developing and executing comprehensive sales strategies to meet revenue targets and expand Lightmatter's footprint in key accounts; building trusted-advisor relationships with C-suite executives and individual engineers; translating deep customer pain points into clear value propositions for Lightmatter's photonics solutions; serving as the customer advocate to internal teams (engineering, product, finance, legal) to ensure seamless delivery and exceptional customer experience; identifying and closing net-new business opportunities; producing accurate sales forecasts and presenting pipeline activity directly to the CEO, CFO, and SVPs; and leading negotiations on complex enterprise deals. You'll need 8+ years in the semiconductor or data center industry, with at least 5 years in direct sales or strategic account management. A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical field is required. You must have strong working knowledge of data center infrastructure (CPU, GPU, networking) and proven ability to explain complex technical solutions to both engineering and executive audiences. Demonstrated success driving complex sales processes, closing greenfield opportunities, and expanding within accounts is essential. You should have experience leading cross-functional initiatives across 3-5 stakeholder groups and be comfortable traveling up to 15% of the time. Preferred qualifications include HPC networking experience, product definition or product management background, experience selling advanced semiconductors to major enterprises, and familiarity with the optics products landscape and sales processes. Lightmatter offers a hybrid workplace model with competitive compensation (on-target earnings $300K–$350K), comprehensive health care, 401(k) matching, generous time off, paid family leave, equity grants, and professional development opportunities.
