Salary: USD 153,000 - 212,400 / annual
Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. They are expanding their lending and capital products business and seeking an experienced credit and capital sales professional to drive growth in this segment.
In this role, you will own the full sales cycle for Mercury's working capital products (term loans and rolling lines of credit), targeting high-growth mid-market brands generating $20M–$500M in annual revenue, with initial focus on ecommerce. You will build and maintain a self-sourced pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking, and relationship-building rather than relying on inbound leads.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting deep discovery with founders and finance teams to understand their cash flow and capital needs, then structuring credit-sound offers in partnership with underwriting
- Managing complex, multi-stakeholder deal cycles involving founders, CFOs, existing lenders, and internal teams (underwriting, credit committee, executive leadership)
- Negotiating deal terms that balance growth ambition with credit discipline
- Selling internally to build consensus across underwriting and leadership to advance deals without compromising credit quality
- Identifying opportunities to expand relationships into other Mercury products (banking, credit cards, treasury) as accounts mature
- Sharing market and customer insights to inform Mercury's underwriting and pricing strategy for working capital products
This is a quota-carrying sales role requiring both external persuasion and internal stakeholder management. You will work with businesses of substantial scale and complexity, requiring comfort with credit fundamentals, deal structuring, and long sales cycles.
**Requirements:**
- 3+ years of quota-carrying, closing experience selling credit, lending, or capital products at a fintech lender, bank's commercial lending group, or similar working-capital provider
- Track record of closing deals with businesses generating meaningful revenue ($20M+, ideally tens to hundreds of millions), in ecommerce or adjacent industries
- Strong grasp of credit fundamentals: ability to discuss cash flow, underwriting considerations, and deal structuring fluently
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles requiring internal alignment (underwriting, credit committee, leadership) and external persuasion
- Demonstrated ability to self-source pipeline through outbound, networking, and relationship-building
- Familiarity with MEDDICC or similar sales methodology (preferred but not required)
- Genuine curiosity about how growing businesses operate financially and energy for solving their capital problems
