Newsela is seeking a School Sales Representative to join its national sales team and drive growth in the K-12 education market. Reporting to the Manager of School Sales, you will own a territory and manage the full sales lifecycle—from prospecting through closing—to bring Newsela's suite of engaging reading content products into classrooms across the country.
Key responsibilities include building and nurturing relationships with key decision makers at the school and district level, uncovering district needs through consultative conversations, and achieving revenue targets. You will conduct territory research to stay current on funding, state initiatives, demographics, and the K-12 education landscape to inform sales strategy. Day-to-day work involves prospecting, pipeline management, forecasting, and managing deals through their entire lifecycle. You'll partner with Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) to complement your own active, self-generated prospecting efforts.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with the broader sales organization to enhance processes and performance, and gather market insights and customer feedback to drive product enhancements. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact student outcomes by expanding Newsela's reach into more classrooms nationwide.
Required qualifications: 1+ year of full-cycle SaaS sales experience with a proven track record of hitting or exceeding quotas. Experience in K-12 EdTech or the K-12 education sector (as an administrator, educator, or similar) is a strong plus. You must demonstrate strong prospecting skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to navigate multiple stakeholders to engineer tailored solutions. A relationship-focused, self-directed approach and ability to manage high-volume pipelines are essential.
