NerdWallet is seeking a Sales Trainer to develop and elevate the sales professionals on its Small Business team. This is a hands-on, collaborative role focused on building a culture of continuous learning and coaching excellence.
The role is approximately 70% new hire onboarding and 30% ongoing sales coaching. You'll lead engaging onboarding programs that prepare new Account Executives to navigate customer conversations, master the sales process, and achieve ramp expectations. You'll deliver ongoing coaching through live call observation, call reviews, role plays, deal strategy sessions, and objection-handling exercises. Your presence on the sales floor will be critical—identifying coaching opportunities, providing timely feedback, and reinforcing NerdWallet's Challenger-based and consultative sales methodology.
Key responsibilities include coaching representatives on discovery, objection handling, urgency creation, lender positioning, financing education, ROI articulation, and closing execution. You'll become a subject matter expert on small business financing, alternative lending solutions, and deal positioning. You'll analyze call recordings and performance metrics to identify skill gaps and develop targeted coaching plans. You'll also create and improve enablement materials including playbooks, talk tracks, and role-play scenarios, and partner with Sales Leadership, Product, and Operations to keep programs aligned with business priorities.
You'll need 3+ years of experience in sales training, enablement, coaching, or frontline sales leadership in a quota-driven environment. Proven track record onboarding new reps and improving speed to productivity is essential. You should have experience coaching through live observation and call reviews, understand Challenger and consultative sales methodologies, and possess excellent facilitation and relationship-building skills. Experience with sales enablement tools (Gong, Salesforce, LMS platforms) and a data-driven mindset connecting coaching to measurable outcomes are important. Willingness to travel approximately twice per quarter is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience in small business financial services, alternative lending, fintech, or high-volume transactional sales environments, and formal certification in sales methodologies like Challenger, SPIN Selling, or Sandler.
