Hex is a collaborative analytics platform combining notebooks, apps, BI, and AI-native workflows. The company is scaling rapidly with enterprise customers including StubHub, Rivian, and Reddit relying on Hex as a core part of their data operations.
As an Enterprise Sales Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to data teams and C-level executives (Data Scientists, Analytics Engineers, CIOs, AI deployment leads). You will own the technical sales cycle, partnering with Account Executives to develop opportunity-level strategy, execute evaluations, and manage proofs of concept and initial deployments.
Key responsibilities include: leading technical discovery and product demonstrations; managing architecture, security, and technical reviews required by prospects; developing content such as demo projects, documentation, and videos to support evaluations; synthesizing product feedback from prospects to inform the engineering and product roadmap; and traveling to customer on-sites and marketing events as needed.
You will work consultatively with prospects to understand their current challenges, connect Hex's value proposition to those challenges, and set them up for long-term success. This role influences deal strategy, informs product direction, and acts as the voice of the customer internally.
Required qualifications: 5+ years in a technical pre-sales role; experience with enterprise customers (2500+ employees); proven track record with POC and technical sales motions; familiarity with data science tooling including Python, SQL, and BI tools; strong communication skills across IC users to senior stakeholders; and a passion for technology with creative problem-solving abilities. Experience in early-stage startups is a plus.
