Astronomer is seeking a Sales Engineer for the EMEA region, based in London with regular travel to France. You'll be a key technical partner to prospects and customers, guiding them in deploying powerful data workflows and solving complex data challenges using Apache Airflow and related tools.
In this role, you will lead the technical sales motion in partnership with Account Executives, conducting discovery calls, delivering tailored demos and proof-of-concepts, and facilitating architecture discussions. You'll translate customer pain points into high-impact technical solutions tied to business value, guide customers through modern DataOps strategies spanning orchestration to observability and automation, and influence product feedback loops through cross-functional collaboration.
Astronomer is the commercial home of Apache Airflow, the industry standard for data orchestration. The company powers mission-critical pipelines at scale for enterprises like Condé Nast, Rappi, and Sonos. You'll work with cutting-edge technology, have a visible impact on customer success, and grow into an expert in workflow orchestration while contributing to go-to-market strategy.
The ideal candidate is technically sharp, customer-obsessed, and energized by solving real problems with data teams. You'll need business-level French language skills, Python fluency, CLI comfort, and experience building with Docker. You should have familiarity with cloud-native data architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure), understanding of data engineering workflows including orchestration, ELT/ETL, DAGs, and CI/CD, and exposure to platforms like Airflow, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or dbt. Strong communication skills across technical and business stakeholders are essential, along with a startup-friendly mindset: proactive, adaptable, and fast-moving.
Bonus experience includes observability, Kubernetes, or helping teams scale modern data stacks.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Business-level French language skills (required)
- Python fluency, CLI comfort, Docker experience
- Cloud-native data architecture familiarity (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Understanding of data engineering workflows: orchestration, ELT/ETL, DAGs, CI/CD
- Exposure to Airflow, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, or similar platforms
- 3–10 years total experience, including 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Sales Engineering, Solutions Architect, etc.)
- Strong communication skills across technical and business stakeholders
- Startup-friendly mindset: proactive, adaptable, fast-moving
