Gigaton is building autonomous AI control and optimization systems to cut carbon emissions from heavy industrial manufacturing (cement, steel, glass). The company's products run industrial plants more efficiently, stably, and with lower emissions in real time.
As a Sales Engineer, you will bridge the technical and commercial worlds, driving the frontline of industrial decarbonization. This role requires interpersonal and technical skills to build relationships with process engineers in cement plants and understand their operational challenges. You will analyze complex plant data to identify how Gigaton's AI solutions address critical issues, then translate findings into compelling proposals for decision-makers from C-suite to operators.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the technical expert on sales calls and plant visits
- Build trust with process engineers by understanding specific plant issues and linking them to Gigaton solutions
- Analyze plant data to identify opportunities and create sales proposals
- Lead technical discovery and assess fit against ideal customer profile criteria
- Hand off relationships and plant understanding to the deployment team
- Provide field insights to product and machine learning teams to shape the roadmap
- Develop and iterate the pre-sales technical process for greater impact and automation
- Travel to plants and conferences (approximately one week per month)
You will build clarity from uncertainty, ensuring customers agree on a shared roadmap that positions Gigaton solutions for significant real-world impact before contract signature.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Exposure to physical sciences, controls, or heavy industry (cement, steel, energy, manufacturing, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills and outcome-oriented mindset; ability to dig into industrial data, identify root causes, generate solutions, and explain value in dollars and tonnes of CO2
- Excellent communication skills; ability to build credibility with both engineers and board-level stakeholders in complex industrial environments
- Comfort being the technical voice, presenting to senior plant leaders, handling objections from experienced operators
- Natural curiosity and desire to learn about industry, technology, and individual plants; drive to understand root causes
- Confidence in ambiguity; ability to field specific technical questions, knowing when to provide understanding versus research answers while maintaining customer confidence
- Willingness to travel regularly
Desirable traits:
- Trust-building ability; capacity to connect with plant engineers and align solutions to priorities
- Diagnostic mindset; preference for asking better questions over pitching
- Thriving in dynamic, fast-paced, ambiguous environments motivated by high-impact, mission-driven work
- Experience in heavy industry, particularly cement, steel, energy, or heavy manufacturing
