Develop Health is using AI to accelerate access to life-saving medications by automating complex healthcare processes like benefit verification and prior authorization. The company has already helped over 2.5 million patients and is scaling rapidly following a major funding round, partnering with major pharmacy benefit managers and payers. You will join a small, in-person calling team in Salt Lake City as a Sales Development Representative. Your primary responsibility is to call doctors' offices on behalf of pharmacies to obtain clinical notes and documentation needed for prior authorizations. When a pharmacy sends a prescription requiring prior authorization, you'll contact the prescriber's office, identify the person handling prior authorizations, and secure their commitment to upload notes, fax documents, or establish a working relationship. You'll also handle inbound callbacks from provider offices. This role emphasizes speed, accuracy, and relationship-building rather than traditional sales. Success is measured by how quickly you work through the calling queue, your ability to reach the right person and secure commitments, and your contribution to improving processes through detailed call logging and feedback. You'll work with a proprietary calling tool built and continuously improved by the company's engineering team. The role is based in Salt Lake City with an initial remote arrangement transitioning to hybrid as the hub develops. You'll work an earlier shift (7am–4pm Mountain time) to reach East Coast prospects. Key responsibilities include: making outbound calls to provider offices daily from a prioritized queue; identifying and connecting with prior authorization handlers; answering and returning inbound callbacks same-day; logging call outcomes with details on office preferences and response reasons; conducting discovery calls to non-responsive offices; and sharing insights with the team to improve scripts, processes, and tooling. You'll need to learn prior authorization basics, how provider offices operate (staffing, workflows, decision-makers), and HIPAA compliance rules for phone interactions. REQUIREMENTS: - Excellent phone skills: friendly, clear, persistent without being pushy; able to navigate busy front desks - Minimum 1+ years outbound calling experience as an SDR, BDR, or in patient access, scheduling, pharmacy, or high-volume calling roles - Comfort working to metrics (dials, connects, conversion rates) and tracking performance - Organized and reliable; consistent follow-up and detailed logging - Quick learner with new dialer and CRM tools BONUS QUALIFICATIONS: - Prior experience calling medical offices (pharmacy, specialty hub, medical practice) - Familiarity with prior authorizations, CoverMyMeds, or EHRs - Spanish or other second language
