Salary: USD 92,000 - 115,000 / annual
Candescent, a forward-thinking technology company transforming digital banking and financial institution experiences, is seeking a Sales Commission Analyst to join its Finance team in Melville, NY. This full-time role reports to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for administering, calculating, validating, and reporting on sales compensation programs across the organization.
Key responsibilities include calculating monthly, quarterly, and annual sales commissions according to approved compensation plans; validating results through detailed audits, reconciliations, and exception reporting; maintaining accurate records of commission calculations and adjustments; and partnering with Payroll to ensure timely payment processing. The analyst will research and resolve commission inquiries from sales representatives and leadership.
Financial analysis and reporting duties encompass preparing commission accruals for month-end and quarter-end close activities, reconciling commission expense and related balance sheet accounts, developing recurring reports and dashboards for Sales and Executive Leadership, analyzing compensation trends, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting of commission expense.
The role emphasizes strong internal controls over sales compensation processes, documentation of commission methodologies and procedures, compliance with company policies and audit requirements, and identification of opportunities to automate calculations and streamline processes. Cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Revenue Operations, Accounting, FP&A, HR, and Payroll teams is essential. The analyst will review new compensation plans, assess operational impact, support annual plan updates, and provide data-driven insights regarding incentive effectiveness.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field; 3-5+ years of experience in accounting, sales compensation, financial analysis, commission administration, payroll, or related finance function; strong understanding of financial reconciliations, accruals, and reporting; advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, complex formulas); experience with ERP, payroll, CRM, or commission systems; and strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Salesforce, SPIFF, Workday, or similar compensation platforms; background supporting SaaS, fintech, technology, or high-growth organizations; knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue-related compensation considerations; and experience with Power BI or other reporting and analytics tools.
