Base Power is rebuilding America's electrical grid through distributed battery networks. As a Safety Specialist (EHS), you will be central to the company's safety program, working on the floor, in the field, and on compliance initiatives that keep operations running safely.
You will own day-to-day OSHA, TCEQ, RCRA, EPA, and DOT compliance across the facility and job sites, including inspections, corrective actions, and program management. You'll provide active floor and field presence to identify hazards, coach safe behaviors, deliver training, and build a safety culture that translates to real impact on the line. You will manage the full RCRA hazardous waste program, including storage, labeling, satellite accumulation, drum logs, and coordination with disposal contractors.
You'll respond to EHS incidents and emergencies by activating procedures, collecting preliminary findings, and supporting root cause investigations. Additional responsibilities include supporting air permit, SWPPP, and SPCC inspection cycles; developing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and PPE assessments; and maintaining EHS documentation and databases.
The EHS team operates with high ownership and builds programs from the ground up. Base is a startup where priorities shift quickly, so your role may expand or change based on business needs. REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial, or field operations environments
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, RCRA hazardous waste requirements, and EPA/TCEQ regulations
- Electrical experience required; familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage systems or NFPA 855 is a plus
- Hands-on track record in hazardous waste management, emergency response, and exposure monitoring
- Clear communicator comfortable engaging crews, engineers, and leadership
- Forklift-certified (or obtainable within 30 days)
- Valid Texas driver's license
