Base Power Company is rebuilding America's electrical grid through distributed battery networks. The company seeks an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer to support field operations in Texas.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining compliance with Texas Health and Safety Codes, OSHA, NFPA, and NIOSH standards. You will collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies. Key responsibilities include executing industrial hygiene studies to analyze manufacturing byproducts against human health thresholds, inspecting facilities and machinery to identify hazards, and implementing machine guarding as needed.
You will conduct regular hazard identification audits with documented safety observations, investigate industrial accidents and occupational diseases to determine root causes and preventive measures, and develop safety solutions following a safety order of precedence (elimination, substitution, engineering controls, work practice controls, training, and PPE). You will also manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
The EHS team is responsible for building a safety-first culture embedded in all operations, partnering closely with field, warehouse, manufacturing, and leadership teams. As Base scales rapidly, this role plays a critical part in protecting employees, customers, and communities while enabling operational efficiency. REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with emphasis in occupational health and safety and/or environmental engineering
- 3+ years of experience in design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to research and apply best industrial and working practices
- Knowledge of process safety management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems
- Strong knowledge and experience interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations
- Experience with emergency response communication and incident management involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water
