As Risk & Compliance Manager, you will own Birdie's compliance strategy across data protection, information security, and health system governance. This is a leadership role reporting to the General Counsel, responsible for embedding and monitoring compliance frameworks that enable NHS partnerships and regulatory adherence.
Key responsibilities include: leading NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and Digital Social Care Record (DSCR) compliance programs; assuring NHS interoperability connections (GP Connect, PDS) meet compliance standards; owning data protection compliance across product and operations in partnership with the external DPO; maintaining the business risk register and control frameworks; conducting third-party risk assessments and internal audit cycles; leading incident response for data protection breaches; and building KRIs/KPIs for leadership and board reporting.
You will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, legal, and operations teams to translate complex health-sector regulations into actionable requirements. The role requires deep expertise in UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, NHS frameworks, and practical risk management in a fast-moving SaaS environment. You'll champion a proactive, risk-aware culture across the organization.
